Welcome!

I am glad you chose to visit! My blog is a compilation of the many hats I find myself wearing. On any given day I may be an encourager, an instructor, or just a lady who is venting. You, dear reader, will probably identify with my triumphs and my tribulations! These snapshots fit into my Life Scrapbook I have named A. McInnis Artworks. I hope you will find something worth your while.

I Finally Had To Do It

Broke down and went to the doctor today...twice. Once to do labwork and once to actually see him about this horrible cold. I had fasted all night for the labwork and knew he'd really be proud of my scale numbers...he DID NOT EVEN MENTION THEM! However, at the second appointment he did ask me point blank, "What about your exercise program? Have you walked 5 times a week for 30 minutes?" Oh, boy, where can a girl hide when asked the dreaded exercise question?

"Why, no, I haven't," I replied. At least I was honest and admitted it. He laughed in spite of himself and said, "When you get over this cold, you need to get back on track." I wasn't sure to whom he was referring, I looked around the room. Nope, nobody there but me. Back on track? I've been trainwrecked on the tracks of exercise my whole life. BACK on track? Maybe he has me confused with another 60+ grandmother athlete. After watching this season of The Biggest Loser, if I had to "qualify" to be on that show by running a mile the first day at my age, there wouldn't be a Holly Jolly Christmas for me.

What is it with people who exercise anyway? They are sooooo condescending to those of us who do not care to perspire. (BTW: Please, watch the last episode of The Biggest Loser next Tuesday night on NBC. A former student of mine, Patrick, is one of the top three finalists. I am really convinced he's going to win! Don't forget to watch!! He is a great young man and has really taken off the pounds.)

Now, I am axiously awaiting my lipid profile numbers and am hoping for a little downward dip in them so I can at least enjoy some food at Christmas without feeling too guilty. FYI: The only reason the lipid numbers were up in July was because it was the week after my birthday and I had partaken of a tad too much birthday cake with all that icing. (See picture above, BD cake has been a lifelong obsession.) BTW II: I have lost 10 pounds. May I hear a little applause?

Ten pounds....that's great. I'd love to lose 10 pounds. I'm even jealous but I'm also proud for you. Keep up the good work AFTER the holidays. YEAH!!!!

I'm very impressed with 10 pounds. We've just made it through Thanksgiving and anyone who has lost 10 pounds during that has truly accomplished something. Great job!

10 pounds is great -- I'd like to lose a few too. But about exercise -- I also think of Walmart as my gym, especially if I have to go all over the store to get everything on my list. And as for running -- years ago I heard a motivational speaker say he'd start running as soon as he saw a runner smiling while he or she was running -- I agree.

Thank you all very much...I get NO applause at home (he can't understand why it's so hard.)I should have mentioned that I DO walk to the mailroom and to visit the school bookkeeper several times in a week. That certainly should count...as well, as the Wal Mart trips. But 5 times a week...30 minutes without stopping to catch my breath? Oh, please.

Hooray for the weight loss! Now, how many more pounds do you have to lose to catch up with Patrick? He did a great job, didn't he? I think Mississippi should call him their "Biggest Winner."
